Well Im glad everyone enjoys the news. The big thing is we need to know which SL courses transfer and where they transfer. Im about to complete SL Economics I in the next day or so. Also hopefully US History. I want to send them to ACE and then to AMU. I don't want SL contacting the school. Or would that be a better way. SL has a weird way of putting Econ I and II under business instead of SS. Same with some other courses too. Im hoping that ACE will get it put where I need it.
Any Ideas?
Anyone already submitted SL through ACE or straight from SL?

Besides, I'd like to expand the wiki to include AMU and WGU as well since they form a second tier that's almost as good. If you have details you can just add it to the wiki, just create an AMU page and have at it -- but be aware that I'll feel free to edit it too, but that's what wikis are for.
Or you can just send to me and I'll try to put something together. But I'd prefer if you just dump it on the wiki and we can polish it up later.
If I had the time and money, I would so go down that road. In less than a New York minute.

It wasn't a problem for me when I was pursuing a BA in History at TESC, but AMU could also provide a good source for upper level courses in various degree plans where no CLEP/DSST alternative exists. I believe that most TESC degrees now require 18 UL credits in your major. I don't believe you can satisfy this requirement in all majors by exams alone. English is one I can think of off the top of my head.

I'm surprised it matters how the school lists it on the transcript. The receiving college should look up the course description from the sending school's catalog and make the determination on what courses/disciplines they apply towards. College Source specializes in central access to something like 50,000 current and historic course catalogs for that reason.

I just dont understand why there is no written information about AMU accepting ALEKS and SL. Why would they hide it? I am going to call tomorrow and not getting off the phone until I get all the info. End of Story.

Just got an email back from AMU. I asked about SL Econ I Macroeconomics. Here is what I got:
It looks like this course should transfer as ECON102 - Macroeconomics which would transfer as a Social Science in your current degree path as well as a BA in Intelligence Studies.
This of course would need to go through the evaluations process and policies can change between now and when you submit it.
I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions regarding your transfer credits.
Respectfully,
Looks like were getting Somewhere!!!!

Just got another email about ALEKS and SL at AMU Here it is:
Hello Kyle,
As of right now the courses will transfer as follows:
Beginning Algebra: MATH101 This will be Elective credit in either degree path.
Business Statistics: MATH302 - This will be Elective credit in either degree path
College Algebra: MATH110 - This will be General Education Math in either degree path
Intermediate Algebra: This can be General Education Math; however only one course is required so it will be Elective credit.
PreCalculus: MATH110 which would duplicate College Algebra above so no credit will be awarded for this course.
For the StraighterLine courses you listed:
Introductory Biology for Non-Majors-will be elective credit because there is no lab.
Introductory Biology for Non-Majors & Lab should transfer as SCIN130 to General Education Science
United States History I: should transfer as HIST101 to General Education History
Introduction to Sociology: should transfer as SOCI111 to General Education Social Science
Any of the Science with Labs should be ok for General Education Science, English Composition I and II should be ok for General Education English.
I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any further questions regarding your tranfer credits.
Respectfully,

And another email from AMU LoL:
Thank you for your email and I apologize for the delay in responding. We do accept Straighterline courses towards General Education requirements. All of the courses I have told you in the other emails are of course unofficial and will not be official until you have submitted them for your Transfer Credit Evaluation.
According to ACE ALEKS does not offer any Science courses. It looks like it is all Math at this time.
Here is the website for ACE ACE CREDIT | The National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training
I hope this helps answer your questions. Please let us know if you have any additional questions regarding your transfer credit.

Wow they transcribe ALEKS pre-calc as college algebra? TESC transcribes ALEKS trig as fulfilling pre-calc so they are actually more generous in that respect.

No I meant TESC is more generous. Trig is a lower course in ALEKS than pre-calc but TESC takes trig as filling pre-calc, whereas AMU takes pre-calc only as college algebra.
Here's the difficulty levels in order from hardest to easiest:
1. Calculus
2. Pre-calc
3. Trig
4. College Algebra
5. College Math
TESC promotes trig up one level. AMU demotes pre-calc down two levels.
