Which class at TESC is the absolutely easiest for the purpose of GPA?
#11
TESC does give you a GPA... if you've taken classes with them. CLEP/DANTES are pass/fail and don't affect your GPA one bit.

TESC does not offer GPA for ANY transfer credit or credit by exam. They only offer grades (and thus GPA) for classes taken at TESC.

Thank you for the help!!

So if I want to graduate with a GPA from TESC, can I, for instance, get away with just taking one course with them and acing it to get a perfect overall GPA?

It sounds like some graduate schools require a GPA, and I would eventually like to attain an MA.

Just wanted to add that it is my understanding that Excelsior does transfer in grades that count towards GPA from outside coursework. All CLEP exams are pass/fail only and do not count towards GPA. Some DSST exams have been refreshed and have a new 3 digit scoring system that are pass/fail only. The older versions of the DSST exams that have a 2 digit score do receive grades that count towards GPA at Excelsior.

Addition: Excelsior also awards letter grades for ECE/UExcel exams.

I just want to get a GPA on my record. If anyone is really interested they can look back and see I had a 3.5+ GPA on my B & M credits.

I am 55 and my B & M credits were over 20 years ago so I just want a GPA now to show I still can get good grades. Maybe it is just for myself.

I did not Borrow the money, my Mother- in-law had said she would pay for me to go back to school and I went with that expectation. After the first 6 months she stopped paying and I was hooked and kept going and paid myself. My husband got layed off in May and does not have a new job yet. I hated asking my MIL to honor her promise, but she can well afford it and we are already paying for our sons college which she had also previously promised to pay.

I was also interested because TESC has an award for people who use a wide variety of sources for a degree, but I think you have to earn a minimum of credits through them.

Thanks for the post - I didn't know that TESC did not award GPA for transfer credits!!! So now with only several courses to go before I graduate - I better buckle down and take the courses from TESC right?? I may go along the lines of a foreign language since that's my strong area. I am definitely calling them today for guidance.

Thanks again.

So what do you guys think would be that absolute easiest class to take to glide by with an A with minimal study? I was hoping for something like a typing class, but couldn't find one in the list. What are your opinions?

I took the PLA-100 course for a GPA. it's a 1cr course and is extremely easy for any adult with some level of professional experience. It's all about teaching you how to use the PLA process, not actually using the process, so you don't have to worry about constructing a portfolio or writing a resume or anything like that. There is no textbook either, everything you need to know is documented on the TESU website. I had no trouble getting a 4.0.

You're not going to fool a graduate admissions dept. They will ask for all of your transcripts, and calculate their own GPA from them. They will not just look at the top of your TESU transcript and say "Oh, she's a 4.0 student!". As far as "bragging" what's the point of bragging that you aced one course that you picked because it was easy? Also, if by "bragging", you mean to list your TESU GPA on your resume, I'd be concerned that someone who decided to verify might take a dim view of it once they learned the truth.

Unless you're planning to purposely take multiple AOS courses for grade, I don't see the point of this exercise.
