For those who are looking for ALEKS alternatives, Saylor, Shmoop, and Straighterline all offer math courses. Shmoop is the closest format-wise (unproctored) but Saylor is closer in price.
Thanks for finding this out, Jennifer. I guess we had better start calling ALEKS!

That is too bad. It is such a great deal. Personally I really enjoyed the fact that the tests were untimed. That is very helpful when you have been out of school for a while. I also enjoyed the pie chart set up. I felt comfortable skipping around with the lessons. Like someone else said, there are a lot of other options. But I wonder what could be keeping them from getting from geting ACE credi?. If they need to require a proctor that will kill the untimed part.

It's not particularly cheap to get ACE review/renewal

But is it cheaper than losing a crapload (give or take a few) 20$ to multiples of 20$ memberships solely for credits?
That is a huge market for them.

Actually it's probably an incredibly small and somewhat troublesome market for them. Aleks sells to entire school systems and colleges. Imagine managing one account with hundreds of students verses hundreds of accounts with one student. It takes resources and alternative credit isn't their interest. Aleks is owned by McGraw Hill, they will never miss our $20/month.

I'm currently doing Intermediate Algebra with Aleks. I need to take statistics and was going to also take a couple more courses for electives. I hope they re-cert.
